Stories of Hope for Our Ocean
A series celebrating the people, places, and moments that inspire action for our blue planet.
About This Series
Hope is not passive. It is a practice.
In May 2025, we gathered for the Women in Ocean Impact: Hope, Inspiration, and Action for our Blue Planet webinar — a powerful celebration of ocean changemakers and a reminder of the hope that fuels our work for a healthier, more sustainable ocean.
The energy, solidarity, and ideas shared during that event left us inspired and eager to keep the momentum going, so we asked participants to do a deeper dive and share what gives them hope. Swipe through the stories below to explore moments of courage, creativity, and community from people who are finding hope in ocean action.

The science tells us what’s happening. Stories remind us why we take action.
Behind every data point about ocean decline is a community, a species, a coastline — and behind every ocean recovery is a person who refused to stop believing in what’s possible.
Sea Forward collects and shares these stories because hope is contagious. When we see what’s working — in the science, in the field, in the communities — we understand that a thriving ocean is not just possible. It is already underway.
